I like Google Instant, says Clay, but proceeds to outline the implication of this feature of Google search. One potential downside is that people see a suggestion that takes them on a detour from their original intention. Implications are that siteowners may need to optimize for suggestions that appear when their main keywords are typed in. Google Instant will stimulate SEO action for a lot of long-tail keywords that you probably should have optimize for prior to this. You may find more 4-, 5-, and 6-word queries than before, though Google keyword tools have reduced the number of suggestions for long-tail words. Google Instant is clearly a suggestion tool, but it doesn’t seem to be significantly changing user behavior, though people seem to be fitting what they would have typed randomly into the suggestions given.
